President's Remarks

by Kellen Grayson, PsyD

Welcome everyone to the 2018 year with NCSPP! We are very excited for the upcoming year. We have multiple projects that we are working on including creating a podcast, continuing our livestreaming, and working on creating new and exciting programming that addresses intersecting identities.

Each year we say goodbye to a few Board members. This year we say goodbye to our past president Karisa Barrow. Karisa has dedicated many years to NCSPP, serving in multiple roles within our organization. She has strong leadership skills and her demeanor is calm and grounded. She has sparked several initiatives during her tenure that will have long-lasting effects in years to come. You will be missed, Karisa. We also are seeing Elise Geltman move into the role of Past President. The Past President serves in an advisory capacity and consults with the Board chairs and the Executive Committee. We also say goodbye to Joe Zamaria, Chair of Outreach and Membership, Garrett Howard, Chair of the Program Division, Jordan Hazzard, Chair of the Membership Committee, and Tanisha Stewart, Chair of the Pre-Licensed Membership Committee.

Our new Board members include Stephanie King as President-Elect, Aimee Armata as our new Outreach and Membership Chair, Taronda Ellison as our new Membership Committee Chair, Deidre O'Neill as Technology Committee Chair, Program Chair Jeremy Mintz, Pre-Licensed Chair Emily Semow, and Nicole Hsiang as Events Committee Chair. Stefania Pifer will co-chair the Community Mental Health Committee along with David Cushman.

We value our committee members, our administrator Michele McGuinness, and other volunteers who work so hard to put together our programming and events. Please look at our website for upcoming events and feel free to submit new event proposals. With the work of such an excellent team, we look forward to the year.
