September 2018

3:00 - 5:00 pm
San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis (SFCP), San Francisco

Furthering the discourse begun in Sue Saperstein’s 2016 NCSPP Course “Difference Matters!,” four individual clinicians commit to speak to the inclusion and clash of radical differences. This dialogue, facilitated by four racially and culturally dissimilar voices, will bring forward the theoretical, historical, and philosophical disparities in our current climate. Our practice of speech is intended to open a necessary, ethical discourse so as to keep learning from the Other and our Otherness.

7:30 - 9:00 pm
St. Clement's Church, East Bay

The goal of this course is to introduce students to the theoretical and clinical relevance of Freud’s notion of infantile sexuality, which remains revolutionary and radical even after more than a hundred years. We will focus on specific basic concepts and their usefulness in our everyday clinical work, with ample room for discussion.

October 2018

7:30 - 9:00 pm
Neyborly, San Francisco

We are currently witnessing the rise of fascist-like leaders globally, and, most alarmingly, in Europe as well as our own country. We observe how these leaders and their adherents collude to form basic assumption groups that could swiftly undermine our western democratic values and institutions.

In this seminar, we will explore various psychoanalytic contributions that can enhance our understanding of the totalitarian states of mind that spark these dangerous movements.
