Winter's coming, rain is here. This month, we offer you a lighter look at psychoanalysis. The cartoon below may just be a sign of these hard, economic times :)

This study group is offered to help participants think and work psychoanalytically to promote depth in their treatments regardless of frequency of meetings or level of disturbance or type of population of their patients. In the context of a collaborative and supportive environment, we will listen to case presentations with an eye to listening analytically, working with transference and countertransference and thinking practically about how to intervene to deepen the treatments. CRAFTING A MEANINGFUL THERAPY WEBSITE: Connect with the unique and meaningful aspects of your practice and translate this into language for the web. Includes 45-minute individual consultation. Friday, November 13, 9:30am- 12:30pm in San Francisco. Jodi Perelman, MFT, 415-435-7559. To register: http://www.jodiperelman.com/workshops

PREGNANT AND PRACTICING? Consultations for expecting therapists. A therapist’s pregnancy is an evocative and challenging time for both the patient and the clinician. The presence of an alive “third” in the room inevitably stimulates powerful feelings, wishes, and fantasies that can both foster growth and lead to impasses. Consultation can provide a container to help consider the questions that emerge, including the therapist’s desire for privacy vs. self-disclosure, when and how to discuss the pregnancy and maternity leave, and the complexities of returning to work.
