Clinical Interest Groups

Our clinical interest groups are designed to build community and encourage dialogue and collaboration among NCSPP's members. We intend these groups to be self-organizing and free to move in whatever direction their members decide upon.

Each interest group is based around an email "listserv" — a service that allows a group of people to participate in a collective discussion via email. Group messages are sent to the email account you specify, and you simply reply (or send a new message) to participate in the discussion.

NCSPP welcomes your suggestions for additional clinical interest groups -- please drop us a note with your ideas.

We offer the following Clinical Interest Groups for active members of NCSPP. Current members of NCSPP who wish to take part in one or more interest groups can submit a subscription request online.

General Membership Listserv
This listserv will serve as an online forum for topics of general interest. We would like to invite members to discuss a diverse range of topics related to psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapy. The focus of a given thread could be clinical, theoretical, sociological, historical, cultural, or — you name it! If your thought, idea, question, or concern is at all related to psychoanalysis or psychoanalytic psychotherapy, we encourage you to participate. With this listserv, we hope to provide a place for rich and creative dialogue in our community.

Child and Adolescent Therapy Interest Group
This interest group will focus on issues concerning clinical work with children and adolescents. We encourage clinicians already experienced in child/adolescent work, as well as those unfamiliar but wishing to learn more, to join.

Couples Therapy Interest Group
This interest group will focus on issues concerning clinical work with couples. We encourage clinicians already experienced in working with couples, as well as those unfamiliar but wishing to learn more, to take part.

Prelicensed Clinicians Interest Group
We offer NCSPP's associate members a "listserv" to facilitate email-based discussions among prelicensed members. We envision this as a space to communicate with one another about professional and clinical concerns from inquiries about referral sources, to questions about internship sites, to discussions about beginning a private practice, to requests for papers addressing clinical dilemmas, to organizing social gatherings, to finding others to form study or consultation groups, to any number of other issues that we'd like to bounce off our prelicensed colleagues in Northern California. Learn more.
