Event Overview
To help our membership develop a clinical voice, the NCSPP Pre-licensed Clinicians
Committee, in association with the Psychoanalytic Institute of Northern California (PINC), will host a series where a pre-licensed member presents a case to an audience of peers. Facilitated by a senior clinician, this engaging, informative outreach event will offer a rich psychoanalytic perspective.
About Mr. Leonard
Matt Leonard, is a second year student in the Master's Program in
Clinical Psychology at SFSU. He obtained a BA in Psychology with a minor in History from Washington University in St. Louis and a post-baccalaureate teaching certification from St. Louis University. Before transitioning to the field of clinical psychology, he was a middle school teacher at Loyola Academy of St. Louis, a Nativity Miguel network school serving boys from low-income families. His clinical experience includes conducting individual and couple therapy and intake assessments with adults and conducting non-directive play therapy and social skills groups with pre-school children at a HeadStart preschool. Currently, he is serving as a second year intern at the San Francisco State University Psychology Clinic. He is interested in researching racial and gender identity development of therapists in training. His Master's project explores how a psychoanalytically-informed examination of one's whiteness can lead to an epistemological shift in conceptualizing casework, particularly countertransference and transference, and should be a critical
component of clinical training.
