The Mutative Capacity of Play in Latency

Course Overview We will explore how play takes form and can elaborate, express, or hinder growth for children during the Latency period (ages five through puberty). Through close reading of clinical process with a boy and a girl, we will discuss how play and the therapeutic relationship can offer children the opportunity to reach their developmental potentials more fully. Course Objectives
Celeste Schneider, Ph.D., is an advanced child and adult analytic candidate and associate faculty at the San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis (SFCP) and in private clinical practice in Oakland and at the Masonic Center for Youth and Families in San Francisco. Recent publications include ?Discovering New Ways of Seeing and Speaking about Psychotherapy Process: The Child Psychotherapy Q-Set?
