EROTICS AND INTIMACIES A Film Screening Event and Discussion
Revanche (Austrian Director Götz Spielmann's 2008 Oscar-nominated drama is a tense, existential, and moving portrait of vengeance and redemption.) Program Overview We are excited to present this unusual opportunity to expand and enrich our understanding of sex and psychoanalytic thought. Please join us to discuss a relevant and provocative film with Diane Borden, an expert in psychoanalysis and film, and psychoanalytic theorists Francisco Gonzalez and Jeanne Wolff Bernstein. Together we will explore the rich material presented in the film and elaborate on our thinking about the role of sex and sexuality in clinical practice. Course Objectives

Presenters Diane Borden, Ph.D., is professor of Film and Literature, Director of Film Studies, and chair of English at University of the Pacific. She has published books, chapters, and journal articles on cinema and psychoanalysis and given papers and workshops at professional conferences in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. She conducts study groups on film and psychoanalysis in San Francisco and the South Bay and has been a guest faculty at SFCP. Jeanne Wolff Bernstein, Ph.D., is past president of the Psychoanalytic Institute of Northern California. She is on faculty at PINC, NCSPP, and Lutecium. She is a contributing editor to Psychoanalytic Dialogues and on the editorial board of Studies in Gender and Sexuality and Contemporary Psychoanalysis. Dr. Bernstein was the 2008 Fulbright Scholar at the Sigmund Freud Private Foundation and Museum in Vienna. She maintains a private practice in Berkeley. Francisco J. Gonzalez, M.D., is a graduate of the Psychoanalytic Institute of Northern California and a past-president of NCSPP. He has taught and presented widely in the Bay Area and published on primitive mental states, homosexuality, film, and socio-cultural processes. He maintains a private practice in psychoanalysis and consultation in San Francisco. Registration Deadline & Information Early registration ends August 27, 2010. After this date an additional $15 fee will be added to all registrations. Cancellation & Refund Policies Enrollees who cancel at least SEVEN DAY prior to the event date will receive a refund minus a $15 administrative charge. No refunds will be allowed after this time. THERE WILL BE A $25 BANK CHARGE AND AN ADDITIONAL $15 ADMINISTRATIVE CHARGE ON ALL RETURNED CHECKS. CE Credit This event meets the requirements for 3.5 CE credits for LCSWs, MFTs, and Psychologists. Participants must attend 100% of the program. Upon completion of a conference evaluation form, a CE Certificate will be issued. This serves as documentation of attendance for all participants. LCSWs/MFTs: This event meets the requirements for CE credits for LCSWs and MFTs through the BBS (Provider #PCE 508). Psychologists: Division 39 is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. Division 39 maintains responsibility for this program and its content. Target Audience & Instructional Level This intermediate-level course is open to all licensed mental health professionals, residents, interns, and graduate students in training, as well as members of the lay public who have an interest in psychoanalytic psychology.
