Student Outreach: WORKS AND FIELD STUDIES: Thinking Psychoanalytically in the Community Presenter: Francisco Gonzalez, M.D. Location: Room 110, The Wright Institute, Berkeley Date: Friday, March 5, 2010 Time: 4:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Free Event Description In this annual graduate student outreach event, Dr. Francisco Gonzalez will draw on clinical examples to illustrate the relevance of psychoanalytic field and group theories for therapeutic action in the community mental health setting. He will present a culturally-grounded psychoanalytic approach as a uniquely vibrant and humane guide for promoting psychological transformation in the clinical environment. All student members of NCSPP are encouraged to attend and participate in this discussion as they pursue clinical training in community mental health agencies as well as a deeper knowledge of psychoanalytic theory. Refreshments will be provided. About Dr. Gonzalez Francisco J. Gonzalez, M.D., is a graduate of the Psychoanalytic Institute of Northern California and is a past president of NCSPP. He has taught and presented widely in the Bay Area and has written on primitive mental states, homosexuality, film, and socio-cultural processes. He maintains a private practice in psychoanalysis and consultation in San Francisco. Registration No pre-registration for this event.
