An Intimate Look at the Process of Becoming a Clinician Inspired by Bravo's "Inside the Actor's Studio," the Prelicensed Clinicians Committee invites you to the second in a series of conversations with senior clinicians in the field of psychoanalytic psychology. Join your colleagues for a stimulating evening of food, wine, and conversation with esteemed psychologist Dr. Sam Gerson in the home of NCSPP member and Past-President Dr. Scott Lines. Dr. Gerson will share his personal and professional journey in becoming a psychoanalytic clinician as he speaks in conversation with Ilya Erenberg, M.A., as well as the audience. The evening will be a great way to meet and network with other clinicians while getting the rare opportunity to hear the personal musings of Dr. Gerson on career, family, and creating a successful private practice. About Sam Gerson, Ph.D. Sam Gerson, Ph.D. is a founder and Past-President of both NCSPP and the Psychoanalytic Institute of Northern California (PINC) where he is currently on the faculty and serves as a Personal and Supervising Analyst. Dr. Gerson is also a Professor at CSPP, is an Associate Editor of Psychoanalytic Dialogues, and is an Editor for Studies in Gender and Sexuality and the Psychoanalytic Quarterly. Prior to moving to the Bay Area he was on the faculty of Harvard Medical School and Director of Out-Patient Mental Health Services at the Cambridge Hospital. His most recent published article is entitled "Unconscious Phanatasy and Relational Reality" appearing in the current issue of Psychoanalytic Quarterly. He recently received the "Elise M. Hayman Award for the Study of Genocide and the Holocaust" from the International Psychoanalytic Association for his paper entitled "When the Third is Dead: Memory, Mourning and Witnessing in the Aftermath of the Holocaust," and he will be presenting this work at the Jewish Coimmunity Center in San Francisco on October 25, 2008.
