Peninsula/South Bay

Covering San Bruno, Daly City, and Burlingame south to Santa Cruz, the Peninsula/South Bay NCSPP community continues to grow in mind and spirit. We have a thirteen year history of strong analytic educational offerings. Our current Education Committee of eleven NCSPP members work hard to continue that tradition with new and relevant ideas that reflect the contemporary analytic thinking which inspires our work in the consulting room.

One of our goals is to extend our programs further south into our geographic area, thereby encouraging even more professionals to join our growing analytic community. To this end, we developed a series of Salons to provide a casual and welcoming environment with good food and wine, in which clinicians can engage in presentations pertinent to our work and to issues in our society. These Salons were offered in several Mid-Peninsula and South Bay locations and received a rousing response. We plan to continue these events and hope to welcome more friends and colleagues into our community.

Each year we offer a nine month Intensive Study Group (ISG) held weekly at Menlo College in Atherton. We choose an analytic theme that is then developed and presented by a changing faculty of four to five analysts from all over the Bay Area. The ISG appeals to clinicians who are looking for a deeper and more intense training experience in a classroom of ten to fifteen participants. Our 2007-08 ISG is titled "From Inspiration to Interpretation —Translating Influential Ideas into Meaningful Work."

In addition to the ISG and Salon Series, the P/SB Education Committee offers an annual Symposium involving featured speakers on analytic topics ranging from our clinical work to larger societal issues. We have also offered classes on child therapy covering such topics as eating disorders and aggression.

For more details of upcoming programs, please check out our current offerings. You are welcome to contact any of our Education committee members to learn how to get more involved with our P/SB NCSPP professional community.
